A solid-state inverter transforms the fixed-cycle 3-phase power to a variable frequency that controls the RPM of the electric motor, and built-in electronic overload protection prevents drive train damage. This system is capable of adapting to changing feed conditions and substantially reduces installation, maintenance and operating costs.

The body of the Screw Press is constructed of slat-bars that hold and support a perforated screen, which surrounds the screw assembly and is a constant diameter from feed end to discharge.

When in operation, material to be processed is introduced at the intake hopper on the feed end of the screw. Continuous rotation moves the material along as screw flights become progressively closer and the cones increase in diameter. Each stage exerts higher pressures, and forces out more liquid as a result. Any extracted liquid passes through the surrounding perforated screens for a 360-degree discharge.

Heyl & Patterson's Screw Press is available in lengths from 4 to 16 feet, and its direct-drive power source can be located in either parallel or in-line configurations. These combinations offer wider freedom of choice if the press is intended as a new or retrofit installation.
